Regina Saves Christmas

Regina Saves Christmas is a narrative poem about the children from the village of Milkweed, Connecticut, who take matters into their own hands when their parents get caught up in a frenzy of overspending for the holiday season. Regina the Brave decides things have gone far enough when Mr. Gruntly, the manager of nearby Crassville Mall, launches a contest to see who can win the prize for buying the most merchandise and their parents foolishly cast common sense into the fire. Regina’s plan of attack involves organizing a children’s rebellion. The result brings the whole town to their senses and inspires everyone to come together for a traditional carol sing in the parking lot of the mall. The following is an excerpt:
